Rabat - Eighteen people were killed and 1,233 injured, including 79 seriously, in 962 road accidents in Morocco's urban districts during the week from August 18th to 24th.
The main reasons behind these accidents are attributed to lack of attention to pedestrians, not respecting the right of precedence, excessive speeding, change of lanes without signal, and not respecting stop sign among others, Police services said in a statement.
According to official statistics, about 99 percent of road accidents in Morocco occur in urban areas and affect mainly pedestrians and motorcycles.
