Motorbikes.

Taroudante - Mopeds, motorcycles and other vehicles with two or three wheels must have a license plate by October30, announced the Ministry of Infrastructure.

According to the Ministry, any two-wheelernot yet registered has untilOctober 30 to display a license plate; otherwise, riders will be arrested.

The procedure aims to end the anarchy of motorcycles in Moroccan cities and fight the massive import of new and used motorcycles.

"Vehicle registration is mandatory when the vehicle's cylinder capacity exceeds 50cc, otherwise the property ID and the display of the serial number are sufficient", said a ministry official.

To comply with the new regulations, vehicles must undergo technical inspections to ensure that they are well-maintained and in good-working condition. Also, owners must possess legal-proof of ownership of the vehicle.

Motorbikes are widely used in most cities in Morocco, but Marrakech remains number one in terms of motorbike usage as a daily means of transportation.

Despite their effectiveness as fast and practical means of transportation, high-speed motorbikes, which have recently flooded the Moroccan market, have caused several traffic accidents with fatalities.
