Rabat - The 4th Edition of the Astronomy Festival will take place in Ifrane, Morocco, September 4 through 7.
The theme of this year’s festival will be “Our Star the Sun, Source of Light and Energy.”
The event aims to raise scientific awareness among participants. It also intends to motivate young scientists by furthering their interest and passion in science and technology.
The 4th Astronomy Festival will include conferences, lectures, exhibits, scientific competitions, and workshops for children about planets and galaxies, under the theme “A Journey to Mars, Challenge of the 21st Century.”
Furthermore, the festival will be hosting Moroccan and international astronauts to talk about Astronomy, answer questions, and help guide upcoming astronauts on the right path.
The 4th edition will pay tribute to Moroccan Astronaut Zouhir Benkhaldoun, an Astronomy Professor at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech.
In a recent report, Al Akhawayn University was ranked first among Moroccan universities and third in North Africa’s 2015 QS Ranking for best Arab institutions.
The event will be organized by Al Akhawayn University, and sponsored by the Municipality of Ifrane, the Network of Amateur Astronomers of Morocco (RAAM), the UNAWE-Morocco Program, the Casablanca Astronomy Association (ACA), the Rabat Astronomy Association, and the CITI Association, which promotes innovative technologies through science.
