Rabat - Morocco’s Regional Election’s preliminary results have been released. On Saturday during a statement, the Minister of the Interior provided the numbers.
Allegedly winning the Regional Elections with a 25.66%, the Justice and Development Party (PJD) secured 174 seats, followed by the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) with 19.74%, taking 132 seats. The Istiqlal Party came in 3rd at 17.55% with 119 seats.
Following Morocco’s top 3 parties, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) obtained 90 seats with a 13.27% of the votes. The Popular Movement (MP) with 58 seats or 8.55%, and the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) obtained 48 seats, which translates to a 7.08%.
According to the same source, the Constitutional Union (UC) kept 27 seats with a 3.98% and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) took 23 seats with 3.39% of votes.
The remaining 7 seats are shared by 4 other parties not mentioned by name.
The results are considered preliminary until verified and legally adopted by the counting committees, informed the Minister.
He also revealed that voter turnout for Municipal and Regional Elections was 53.67%.
Overall, these elections were handled without major problems for what the Minister celebrated the “general conditions under which these elections were held thanks to the joint efforts of all the parties involved”.
