Brussels - The European Union welcomed, Monday in Brussels, the progress made by Morocco in the implementation of constitutional reforms.
"Two years after the adoption of a new constitution, the EU welcomes the progress made and wishes to support Morocco in its process of promoting democracy, the rule of law, human rights, gender equality, and the development of a sustainable and inclusive economy," said the EU in the final declaration adopted at the end of the 11th EU-Morocco Association Council. The EU also encourages Morocco to continue the adoption of all the necessary organic laws and regulations to ensure the effective implementation of the new Constitution, hailing the adoption of the government's plan for equality (2012-2015) that the EU has already begun to support. The EU also stressed that "the justice reform remains one of the largest projects within the framework of the constitutional reforms undertaken by the government." For its part, Morocco reaffirmed commitment to the justice reform, as part of a national debate involving both professionals and citizens, which led to the development of a Charter of the judicial system in the form of an action plan based on the strategic objectives and mechanisms of implementation. The Kingdom has also expressed its commitment to promoting democracy, the rule of law and good governance as well as fostering a model based on social solidarity.
