Rabat - Morocco’s national airline, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) seeks to become best aviation company in Africa according to the airline’s CEO, Driss Benhima.
In a press conference on Tuesday in Casablanca, Benhima engaged in a “discourse of evidence”, in which he discussed RAM’s progress and addressed complaints made by passengers and tour operators.
RAM’s CEO highlighted the company’s improvement projects, which according to him, will consolidate the national airline as the best company in Africa.
Benhima, who has been leading the Moroccan airline for the last 10 years, stressed how strategic improvements made to the company since 2013, have stimulated its growth and success.
“In just two years, we have gone from two to four stars in the Skytrax ranking, which is the international standard for qualitative ranking of international companies,” RAM’s boss explained.
“This recognition did not come by chance,” he said at the press conference.
The 61-year-old president revealed that RAM is close to earning the bet of offering its customers the best international standards in regards of quality of services.
“The wings of Morocco” is now offering its passengers new services, which Benhima detailed during his statement.
The new services include: faster online registration, accumulation of loyalty points, new aircrafts, new onboard menus, new Casablanca terminal for international flights, increased summer routes, and a new VIP lounge, among others.
RAM is now partners with Qatar Airways, which has allowed the Moroccan airline to launch direct flights to Europe, Africa and Asia.
Medias24 interviewed Driss Benhima about several passenger and tourist operator complaints filed against RAM.
According to the airline’s CEO, the closure of specific routes is linked to orders given by the Moroccan government.
Since the State owns RAM, profitability requirements are largely controlled and the State dictates certain choices that can, at times, pose problems for local tourism professionals, he explained.
Regarding the criticisms made on the lack of quality of certain services, Benhima said that the top priority for the airline is safety.
“It is true that we spend a lot more money than others in safety. Our aircrafts ‘full-option’ have the best safety equipment in the world,” he affirmed.
“That is reflected in our prices but safety is an essential element of our services and our passengers know this,” the CEO added.
