Marrakech - Kenyan athlete Moses Gaikaria Mbugua on Sunday won the 27th International Marathon of Marrakech.
Mbugua crossed the finish line in a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 41 seconds, ahead of Moroccan Bakari Khamis (2 hours 11 minutes and 54 seconds) and Kenyan Augustine Kipkoech Ronoh (2 hours 12 minutes and 36 seconds).
In the women’s category, Ethiopian athletes dominated Marrakech Marathon. Mijana Shasho Insermu crossed the finish line in 2 hours 32 minutes and 41 seconds followed by Tigistgirma Getachew in 2 hours 33 minutes and 03 seconds.
Over 7,500 athletes took part in this year’s edition, which aims to raise awareness about environment protection.
