PARIS - France said it is ready to support Morocco in implementing the new asylum and immigration policy, governing the status of refugees and guaranteeing the principle of non-expulsion.
"France expresses to Morocco its support in implementing its new asylum and immigration policy, regulating the status of refugees and guaranteeing the principle of non-expulsion," said on Thursday spokesman of the French ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation.
He added that his country took note "with interest" of the National Human Rights Council's report which "calls for a new Moroccan asylum and immigration policy by making concrete and ambitious recommendations."
"We have also noted the mobilization of King Mohammed VI on this issue and the Moroccan government's commitments," said the spokesman, adding that France "has also heard calls for international cooperation to Morocco's partners and to the European Union."
After being submitted the report on asylum and immigration, King Mohammed VI instructed the government to draft a strategy and a work plan, in coordination with the CNDH and other concerned institutions, to design a comprehensive immigration policy.
